I’m pleased to offer a cooking camp designed specifically for busy parents and kids in need of activities toward the end of summer.

During our time together, students will learn fundamental cooking skills, create an incredible lunch, and bring home new recipes.

Wednesday, Aug 14

Sushi

  • Students will learn how to make and roll sushi! Everybody will be able to customize and create their perfect dream rolls.

    • Sushi rice

    • Watermelon “tuna”

    • Avo & cucumber roll

    • Tempura vegetables

    • Soy glaze

    • Miso mayo

    • How to cook rice perfectly (even without a rice cooker)

    • Mind-blowing fish-free alternative

    • Sauce making

    • Tempura technique

    • Sushi assembly and rolling

Thursday, Aug 15

Tacos

  • Street tacos are typically meat-driven, so are you out of luck if you don’t eat meat? Absolutely not! Students will learn my extensively developed meat-free replications of traditional meats, plus homemade salsas and corn tortillas from scratch.

    • Soy carne asada

    • Jackfruit carnitas

    • Chorizo and crispy potato

    • Homemade tortillas

    • Green salsa

    • Red salsa

    • Onions, cilantro, and lime

    • Working with plant-based meat alternatives

    • Working with Mexican ingredients

    • Making masa dough

Friday, Aug 16

Pizza!

  • There aren’t many things more fun than homemade pizza. But it can easily go more wrong than right. Students will learn how to make extremely simple pizza dough that will behave when it comes time to stretch and bake. Pizza night is about to get much more fun.

    • Pizza dough from scratch

    • Pizza sauce from scratch

    • Homemade pepperoni bites

    • Homemade plant based sausage

    • Traditional pizza veggies

    • Kale Caesar salad

    • Shaping fresh dough

    • Flavor building in cooked sauces

    • Making spice blends

    • Vegetable knife skills

    • Making kale crave-worthy

Location

Camp will be held in the church kitchen and adjoining space. Emily’s music camp is conveniently located in the music room of the church, so students joining both camps can stay on campus all day.
